7 Days Xinjiang Bogda Peak Trekking Adventure

Welcome to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang and a sparkling gem nestled in the heart of the Tianshan Mountains. All team members will individually travel to the designated hotel for assembly. In the afternoon, we will check equipment, hold a pre-trip meeting, and enjoy a welcome dinner. The rest of the day is for you to rest up for an amazing trekking adventure ahead.

Depart from Urumqi and head to Aksu Valley. You will trek for approximately 5 hours, covering 17 kilometers, and finally arrive at the Aksu Glacier at an elevation of 3,400 meters. Along the way, you will gradually enter the northern slope landscape zone of the Tianshan Mountains, experiencing the transition from urban to natural scenery. Aksu Valley is the starting point of the Bogda Circuit, where the alpine meadows and pristine forests offer you a rich visual feast. The Aksu Glacier, the first stop on the Bogda Circuit, boasts magnificent glacial scenery. The perennial glaciers and surrounding snow-capped mountains create a stunning contrast, making it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts.

The challenge for the brave begins. Depart from the campsite and pass through Tiger's Mouth at 3,880 meters, eventually reaching the Baiyang River East Valley Glacier Camp at 3,400 meters. You will trek for about 7 hours, covering 13 kilometers. Today's journey will take you through the iconic landmark of the Bogda Circuit—Tiger's Mouth. Named for its resemblance to a bowling alley, Tiger's Mouth is the most challenging section of the circuit, often referred to as the "bottleneck." The pass offers unique views, allowing you to experience the grandeur and ruggedness of Bogda Peak. The Baiyang River East Valley Glacier Camp provides you an opportunity to get up close to the glacier, where the combination of ice and snow-capped mountains is truly awe-inspiring.

It's a day for heights. Depart from the campsite and cross the Zhuanshan Pass at 3,950 meters, eventually arriving at the Baiyang River West Valley Glacier Camp at 3,650 meters. You will trek for about 6 hours, covering 10 kilometers. Today's journey will take you over the Zhuanshan Pass, one of the key points of the Bogda Circuit. Along the way, the alpine meadows and glacial landscapes complement each other, showcasing the diversity of the Tianshan Mountains. The Zhuanshan Pass offers expansive views, allowing you to gaze at the majestic Bogda Peak in the distance. The Baiyang River West Valley Glacier Camp also offers breathtaking glacial scenery, particularly the striking contrast between the glacier and the surrounding mountains.

Conquer the previous day's altitude to reach the roof. Depart from the campsite and challenge the Jiandan Pass at 4,150 meters, eventually reaching the Bogda Mountaineering Base Camp at 3,570 meters. You will trek for about 6 hours, covering 12 kilometers. Today's journey will take you to Jiandan Pass, one of the highest points on the Bogda Circuit. Along the way, the glaciers and snow-capped mountains provide endless visual delights, showcasing the grandeur of Bogda Peak. The Jiandan Pass offers unparalleled views, allowing you to overlook the entire Bogda Peak and its surrounding glaciers. The Bogda Mountaineering Base Camp is an important supply point for hikers and also an excellent location to admire Bogda Peak.

A Day of Encountering a holy Lake in high mountains. Depart from the campsite and pass through the Fourth Sheepfold, then cross the Heigou West Pass at 4,190 meters, eventually arriving at Emerald Lake at 3,370 meters. Today's journey will take you through the Heigou West Pass, another iconic landmark of the Bogda Circuit. Along the way, the alpine meadows and glacial landscapes are captivating. The glacial scenery at Heigou West Pass is particularly spectacular, especially the Heigou Ice Towers, where the various shapes of the ice towers are truly fascinating. Emerald Lake is a serene alpine lake with crystal-clear water, forming a striking contrast with the surrounding snow-capped mountains.

The final day of trekking is still exciting. Depart from the campsite and pass through Heigou Elephant Trunk Ridge and Heigou East Pass, eventually returning to Aksu Valley to conclude the trekking adventure and head back to Urumqi. Today's journey will take you through Heigou Elephant Trunk Ridge and Heigou East Pass, the final section of the Bogda Circuit. Along the way, the alpine meadows and glacial landscapes provide a final visual feast for you. The scenery at Heigou Elephant Trunk Ridge is unique, with a mountain ridge resembling an elephant's trunk leaving a lasting impression. The glacial scenery at Heigou East Pass is equally magnificent, especially the combination of the glacier and the surrounding mountains. Finally, you will return to Aksu Valley and then back to Urumqi, perfectly completing the Bogda Circuit trekking adventure.
