The Ruins of Shikchin Buddhist Temple in Yanqi


Known as Shikchin Ming-oi, located about 30 kilometers to the southwest of the seat of Yanqi Hui Autonomous County, the ruins is quite large, with numerous shrines and monk's houses. The extant ruins of buildings count nearly 100; most of their walls are well preserved. There are some caves with frescoes survived behind the hill. Among the unearthed survived behind the hill. Among the unearthed survivals, some are sculptures in Gandhara style of the 6th- 7th centuries, and some are works with oriental artistic features of the 8th-9th centuries.

 Now the ruins of Ming-oi Buddhist Temple is listed as a major Cultural site under the autonomous region protection.
